Best breakfast spots in Champagne

Breakfast in champagne is my second favourite thing to do after, well, drinking natural champagne. Stepping outside your hotel and walking to a lovely little café gives your champagne trip that little extra, especially when you're treated to delicious pastry and good coffee. Below, I've listed my go-to places in both Reims or Épernay. Obviously, there are more breakfast spots in both cities, but these are my personal favourites.

1. Pâtisserie Waïda et Fils - Reims

When I think about breakfast in Champagne, I think about Waïda. They're not your typical breakfast hotspot, though.

Walk into their patisserie in Reims, and neon colours and pink bling-bling will instantly blind you. It's like a unicorn exploded in there! The ambience is great, though, and their food is simple and tasty. I often go there after a night of champagne tasting, as Waïda knows how to take care of champagne hangovers.

There's soft music playing in the background, an old-fashioned interior and cosy corners where you can hide from the sun. Waïda serves crispy bread, flaky croissants and my favourite: buttery scrambled eggs that warm your soul. Highly recommend them!

2. Maison Vincent Dallet - Épernay

When you walk passed Maison Vincent Dallet in Épernay, you wouldn't say you're passing a breakfast hotspot. But apart from being a classy chocolaterie, they're also a salon du thé, and a pretty good one too. I particularly remember their croissants and coffee, which are both very good as they're so damn French: simple yet high quality. From your table, you have a nice view of the streets of Épernay, which is an added bonus.

3. La Grande Georgette - Reims

In hotel La Caserne Chanzy (which is a recommendation on its own), you’ll find restaurant La Grande Georgette. They serve breakfast from 6.30 to 10.00, both inside and on their terrace that has a nice view on Reims city life.

Whether you stay in their hotel or not, you’re welcome to sit down and have a croissant or two, accompanied by good coffee and soft music tones.
